I *heart* USA

A virus is spreading through Chinese Internet users - they are adding a “Love China” icon to their MSN chat names by the thousands to show support for their country.

The icon, according to a number of blogs, is said to be in response to Western bullying over recent Olympic protests. Over the last weeks thousands of protesters have come out in force as the Olympic torch, destined for China this summer, has traveled through their borders. On a number of occasions the torch has been extinguished, and additional security measures have been taken in cities around the world.

From SushiPanda, linked above:

“Over half of my Chinese-Chinese friends on MSN have put the badge on their contact names, in defiance of all the anti-China bullying that they’re undoubtedly reading about in the Chinese newspapers, watching on the Chinese news, and scouring over on the hundreds of blogs and BBS’s peppering China’s cyberscape and devoted to propping up this country’s national pride.”

Outsiders are suggesting that the news in China is being censored and that Chinese citizens aren’t getting a balanced view of the reality of the international protests. But whatever the cause, this is a significant showing of Chinese nationalistic behavior, and a sign that they are paying attention to the outside world.

Seeing my friend pop up on MSN Live Messenger this morning with the *heart* China as their name didn’t come to me as a complete shock. After reading the above article at TechCrunch, it just seemed reasonable to promote the *heart* USA tag!

For all you USA lovers out there, just simply click onto your MSN Live Messenger, and add (L) USA as your name (you can always add your screen name in the field below). This way you can support your love of the United States, without joining in with the communist over in China.

What a nightmare this has become. I am aware that we are protesting China for human rights abuses but couldn’t any country protest the US for some of it’s abuses?

Hey Bradley…just dropping by and returning the comment luv brotha! Thanks for hittin my blog.

Great idea..Pretty cool actually..didn’t know it could be done. I immediately logged on to my messenger..and..as soon as I added the (L) USA the heart pops up!

Carol - sure they could..but why would they? The USA is the MOST generous country in the entire world. WE give MORE than any other country in the entire world. If you’re talking about us wiping Islamofascists off the face of this earth..that doesn’t count! Islamofascists have no rights when they choose to attack innocent Americans on our soil with no provocation.

The Chinese on the other hand, those guys are pretty cruel. Perhaps you need to read more about how they make prisoners “volunteer” their organs..or how they “limit” the number of female births in their country. Who knows..had you been conceived in China..you might not be hear to post your response!

Well put Bobo. And thanks for commenting back, I really couldn’t stop laughing at the one post of yours about Obama being a post turtle (especially since I am from Mobile, Alabama).

It is true, America does help out a lot of nations, and this help some people have misinterpreted as “policing”. We don’t have to help, we just feel the need to help.

China does make their prisoners “volunteer”, as Bobo put it, their organs. If the USA even thought about doing that, the person in charge would automatically be sent to prison their-self.

The “heart” USA is not necessarily a protest against China (but it is a plus!), it is something extra to show your love of the USA. If your not for the USA, well then honestly the USA shouldn’t be for you, but no worries, we will help you out eventually.

yeah.. its pretty cool.. i didn’t know u could do that… mine now says (L) USA… yippee!!!
remember folks that when we say China or Muslim… we are talking about their government and not their citizens… all of the muslim worlds government are just a totalitarian government in disguise… and they love to enforce laws and religion to make sure the citizens are their slaves… :) if it wasn’t for modern warfare weapons, i truly believe many of these nations would have been overthrown by their own people already…

Alright, let’s make this a cool little “protest”. If you support the USA, and dislike countries such as China, who is quickly taking over, then sport the *heart* USA in your messenger. (Which you can do by making your name (L) “name”). Also, it works in the lower caption too, but it is less effective.

And correct Jeff on stating out the political correctness. Yes, when I am talking about China, it is defiantly the government. If I’m talking about the people, usually Chinese would be the word. People just got to learn how to read.

It does seem like if it wasn’t for the modern warfare, many countries would be in a state of revolution, or in a state of anarchy due to people disliking their government.

Jeff ~ totally agree there. This is about the governments. At least, that’s how we see it. Unfortunately, for those who protest or “hate” America..they not only mean our government..they mean me, you, our friends, our families, etc. They truly hate each and every one of us Americans. I don’t get it!

Bobo, that is the scary part. We talk about others governments, because we know our Democracy is a good way for the government to listen to the people, and we want everyone to be heard.

Others, on the other hand, hate the fact that we do want to help. We are the “police of the world”, and you know how much people dislike it when the police are following them.
