America: Where Are We? Part 1

America. Once seen as the greatest super power in the history of the world. The United States had everything going for itself.

In it’s 232 years of existence, the U.S. has won its independence from England, helped the revolution in France, held off the British, won against the Spanish, best Mexico and won the independence of the future state of Texas, gained lands from Atlantic to Pacific, survived the Civil War, brought peace for both World Wars, took down Hitler, destroyed the Japanese (and then helped rebuilt), and won over the U.S.S.R during the Cold War.

Alongside military victories, the United States has also had it share in economic victories, such as the cotton gin, industrialization, telephones, cars, computers, and even nuclear power.

Socially, we gave ended slavery, gave freedoms to women, African Americans, and Native Americans. We have given the power to succeed to everyone, and everyone has been given the opportunity to live the American Dream.

But throughout it’s history, the United States has not been perfect. Slavery would be the major one, but not only socially. We got ourselves into the Great Depression, but we also got ourselves out and enjoyed quite the Golden Age.

What happen to that Golden Age though? What happen to the United States being the land that everyone loved? What happen to America being number one at everything - sports, education, technology, military?

Right now, the United States is in a bad position. We are in an economic recession (or at least heading into one). We are at war in two countries, Afghanistan and Iraq, both in which we just seem to be staying there, and not accomplishing the goals in which we sent our troops to go into. We have outsourced our jobs in exchange for lower prices, but this ignorance has left many jobless, unable to afford the cheaper products. The United States is being beat out by countries like China and Russia, our two greatest enemies and fellow super powers. Our education system is going down the drain, and our healthcare and medicare systems are becoming to socialist.

So, how do we fix these problems? Well first, since this is an election year, you can vote the right people into the right places. How do you know which is the right choice? Well, research! Do not vote out of ignorance. Throw political parties out the window, and vote for the candidate with the most common sense, no matter Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or Independent.

We need to make sure the we bring the jobs we have sent over sees back. We need to fix the illegal immigration problem. We need to better our education system, and we need to make healthcare, medicare, and retirement cheaper and better for everyone. We need to help America first, and then help the rest of the world second. We need to finish the wars that we started, as quickly and efficiently as possible. We must stop wasteful spending, and we need to stimulate our economy.

There is a long road ahead, not matter which path we choose. To the left, you have the freedoms of democracy at risk, socialism put in place, and the government controlling what you do. To the right, you have lower taxes, freedoms, and less government. Now is the time to fix what we have done to the United States. The land of the free will always be so, but we will bring ourselves back to being number one, and no matter what, we should never let our country down, and never let it fall.

And participate in state in local elections. That’s where most of the stuff is done. The president is just a figure head for the rest of the governments. Yes with an s.

Excellent point there. You do have to work yourself and your ideals from the bottom up. You have to create a strong base before you build a tall tower, if not, it will fall.

I think the main problem with some of the state and local elections is that there is not much information given out. For example: Did you know that a couple weeks ago Alabama had it’s primaries for general election? Well, I had heard about it, and seen some signs, but the usual local media coverage was not there. Matter of fact, it wasn’t until I turned the radio on that morning that I heard the DJ state that today is voting day. Big things could of happen, just that I didn’t know about it.

And if I haven’t heard about it, think about everyone else around Mobile though of it all.

America will only change when it realizes that the left vs. right, social class/political war, is only there because Americans want it there as entertainment.

Excellent point there Guy. Many Americans have become obsessed with the entertainment of politics, and not the real entertainment that political lovers know of, but the silly fights, the fads, and everything else that doesn’t really matter in politics.

I also was going to mention this but never found a good way to do it. I was fixing the magazine rack at my store, and I seen I think the National Enquirer that Bush was caught doing Cocaine. I never read the story or anything, but with stories like that, plus others like “Hillary’s secret lesbian lover” and stuff is just wrong in politics.
